RFID sensor tag offers range from -30°C to +300°C

Farsens introduced an RFID sensor tag called Pyros-TGT-2-DWB, which is capable of transmitting a unique identifier and associated temperature measurement data to a commercial EPC C1G2 reader without the need for a battery on the sensor tag.

The device features a 103GT-2 NTC thermistor (10K) from Semitec with a measurement range from -10°C to +120°C degrees with an accuracy of ±0.5°C. The device also offers an extended temperature range from -30°C to +300°C with an accuracy of ±3°C, while the actual RFID tag operation range is -30°C to +85°C.

The tag comes in a variety of antenna designs and sizes to adapt the performance to the required application in the 860MHz -960MHz band. The reading distance for the battery-free thermistor tag is around 1.5m and it can be embedded in a wide variety of materials such as plastics or concrete. It can also be encapsulated in an IP67 or IP68 casing for usage in harsh environments.
