Baxter gets a big brother

Sawyer

Rethink Robotics gave industrial robots a new look and feel—and cost point—with the familiar tablet face of its Baxter robot. Now Baxter is getting a big brother.

Sawyer is stronger. He lifts payloads up to 4kg. He has more efficient acceleration for faster reactions and is more precise, repeating tasks with 0.1mm precision. He's also lighter at just 19kg.

Of course the improvements come at a price. Sawyer will cost $4,000 more than the $25,000 Baxter when he goes on sale later this year.
