Simple reset solution designed for mobile device hardware lock-ups

Fairchild Semiconductor has released a newly-expanded line of reset timers that the company claims provide a better solution for mobile device lock-ups and freezes. This new family of reset timers is designed with a variety of delay times for resetting mobile devices. The reset timers also have product options that provide both fixed and selectable delays, single- or dual-button reset, and fixed or variable reset pulse widths.

The FT7522 and FT10001 provide fixed delays of 7.5 and 10 seconds and offer inputs for single-button resetting capability. The FT3001, meanwhile, provides design flexibility with two inputs for single- or dual-button resetting capability and four different delay values that can be selected using the DSR0 and DSR1 pins. All devices function cover a power supply range of 1.65V to 5.0V and draw minimal supply current when inactive. This makes them suitable for use in portable devices where battery conservation is essential.
