Locate near-field EMI faults with sniffer probes (Part 3)

The peak detect mode and max-hold in envelope mode help capture and retain highest detected signal, which helps in providing quick visual reference to signal measured at other parts of the DUT. If you create a mask to emulate limit lines of the regulation, you can then configure some scopes to signal an alert beep or stop the acquisition whenever signals cross the mask. This is particularly useful when your eyes are on the board rather than on the screen as you move the near-field probe around the DUT.

In near-field measurements, there are always new ideas and trade-off techniques to ease debug work. Use the guide above as a reference when setting up any near-field measurements.
