Integrated Device Technology has rolled out a wireless power receiver called IDTP9025. The company said the product complies with the Wireless Power Consortium's (WPC) 1.1 Qi requirement. The single-chip device is designed for portable consumer applications, including smartphones, tablets, and accessories, as well as offers enhanced foreign object detection (FOD).

The device includes an onboard synchronous full-bridge rectifier and low-resistance low-dropout (LDO) regulator, allowing customers to achieve power transfer efficiency with minimal external component count and board space. The design is ideal for use in high-volume portable devices where battery life and physical size are a primary concern.

"The IDTP9025 enables our customers to develop compact, high-efficiency wireless power solutions compliant to the latest standards, ensuring universal compatibility with any Qi charging base. We also provide a WPC 1.1-certified reference design and layout guidelines with our evaluation kits, making it easy for our customers to obtain WPC certification for their products with minimal effort," said Arman Naghavi, vice president and general manager of the Analogue and Power Division at IDT.

The company said the IDTP9025 is also capable of passing communication and power transfer information to a local microcontroller, as well as fault and safety monitors, through the integrated I2C port. This allows the customer to build custom control algorithms and user interfaces to enhance the user experience. In addition to an evaluation kit with WPC-certified reference design, IDT supports its customers with a design-in guide and support tools to further ease the development process.

The IDTP9025 is currently sampling to qualified customers and is available in a 3 x 2.5mm WLCSP package. The IDTP9025 part number is priced at $2.44 each for volumes of 1,000 units.
