DLP technology evolves to cover more applications

Digital Light Processing is used in EnvisionTEC's Perfactory 3D printers (Personal Factory). The DLP-based 3D printer projects volumetric pixels into a photosensitive liquid resin, which is then cured into a solid substance. By leveraging DLP's high-resolution capabilities and light-source agnostic properties to photo-cure resins, EnvisionTEC's 3D printer is said to be ideal for reproducing jewellery, dental/earpiece moulds, and toys.

Seikowave uses DLP-structured light measurement technology for investigating oil and gas pipelines.

The company's handheld device, small enough to fit under the pipeline, is designed for gathering pipeline measurements and inspecting defects including corrosion pits, cracks, and dents.

DLP's resolution and speed are said to be effective for highly accurate scanning and analysis of pipelines.
