IPETRONIK GmbH & Co. KG has rolled out the upgraded version of its IPEmotion app, which features a completely redesigned graphical interface. The app supports encrypted WiFi data transfer from IPETRONIK modules IPEhub2 and COMgate to any mobile Android device. IPETRONIK logger system users can therefore monitor data acquisition online using a tablet or they can use the tablet as custom-configurable logger data display.

The IPEmotion App 2.0 offers many benefits like quick and easy measuring data display, connection of vehicle CAN interface to any Android device, display function for IPETRONIK data loggers and high data security by data storage directly on IPEhub2. Connection can be easily set up using the WPS functions of the mobile device and IPEhub2.

Data visualisation type and extent (curve, bargraph, alphanumeric, LED) is custom selectable in the app settings. For basic app configuration, the IPEmotion PC software is used. Configured display pages and instruments can also be exported to the app. An additional convenient feature is that users can set up individual display pages and instruments with channel allocation directly in the app. No laptop or PC are required and measurement chain verification is simplified.

IPEhub2 operates as a CAN-to-WiFi gateway with storage medium: 2 CAN bus streams (from either M-CAN bus or vehicle bus) are converted to encrypted WiFi data and streamed wirelessly to either tablet or smartphone with installed IPEmotion App.

Parallel to wireless data transfer, traffic data are stored on the FIFO of the SD card included in IPEhub2. The IPEhub2 module supports IP54 protection class and uses a gold anodized aluminium enclosure of 106mm x 43mm x 62mm in modern M2 design. A supply voltage in the range of 9VDC to 36VDC is required, as well as a power input of 4W at operation.

The COMgate is a communication gateway for Ipetronik data loggers, which transfers data via WLAN based on the WiFi standard 802.11 a/b/g, or via GSM/GPRS/3G with a suitable modem. Connection to the network is automatic and can be activated via the DHCP protocol.

In the event of temporary malfunctions or connection breakdowns, COMgate offers a fallback mechanism that automatically buffers data in the logger and repeats transmission at a lower transmission rate. The COMgate enclosure uses dimensions of 160mm x 120mm x 26.5mm, and supports IP54 protection class.
